Payer Audits remain on the rise – and are not going away anytime soon. This lecture will identify the most common areas of concern identified in audits of podiatry claims.

10:15 – 11:15 AM: Proper use of your EHR for Quality Outcomes – Michael Brody, DPM
Reporting Quality Care is the cornerstone to success under the MIPS payment program. Dr. Brody will review the high priority quality care activities that you need to perform and document in your practice to provide the best care for your patients and achieve the best possible score in the MIPS payment system.
11:15 – 12:00 PM: Practice Improvement Activities – Michael Brody, DPM
The second part of MIPS is called Practice Improvement Activities. This is a fancy term for patient engagement. We will discuss various methods to engage patients in their care plan to improve outcomes and achieve the maximum score in the new MIPS System.

1:00 – 1:45 PM: Advancing Clinical Care – Michael Brody, DPM
The final piece of the MIPS Puzzle is known as Advancing Care. This is simply a rebranded Meaningful Use, with a focus on having an impact on the quality of care. The busy work is gone and these measures focus on doctor to doctor communication and care coordination. By meeting these measures, you can work collaboratively with other providers in the community to enhance care and the bottom line of your practice.
1:45 – 3:15 PM: Anatomy of an Effective Billing Compliance Program: Viewing Fraud and Abuse Risk Management as a Process not just a Manual - Vincent Buttaci, Esq
Having identified the most common areas of concern identified in audits of podiatry claims, this lecture will provide a blueprint for proactively insulating your practice from the issue that can result in an overpayment or compliance issue.
3:15 – 3:30 PM – Break
3:30 – 4:30 PM: Podiatric Dermatology Coding Essentials – Wayne Bakotic, DO
Cutaneous biopsy techniques are simple and well-reimbursed procedures that may be used in the practice of podiatric medicine. Biopsy techniques will be reviewed, making notes of their indications, coding, and pearls to their application.
